BiblioLonia: Take a book, leave another
BiblioLonia is an initiative to share books among people who walk and visit the banks of the Lonia River.
You can choose a book you like and take it home to read and enjoy. In return, you must leave another book so that someone else can read one that you have already read…
Health and good journey
The neighborhood and the Lonia River
Lonia is a neighborhood in Ourense that takes its name from the river that runs through it. The Lonia is the most important tributary of the Miño River in Ourense. It originates in the municipality of Nogueira de Ramuín, passes through Pereiro de Aguiar, and flows into the Miño already within the municipality of Ourense.
You can walk along its banks in several sections of the river course, although possibly the most famous route is the one called "The Mills of the Lonia River" where you can enjoy a testimony of this type of traditional Galician engineering.
In addition, the Lonia River forms two famous reservoirs, Cachamuíña and Castadón. Near the latter is the Santomé Natural Archaeological Complex: a hillfort inhabited between the 1st century BC and 5th century AD that shows the fusion of Castro culture and Roman culture.
